Restorative dentistry refers to the “restoration” or rebuilding of your teeth which have been damaged by dental caries (decay) or by traumatic injury but can also include restoring or improving the appearance, shape, alignment or colour of your teeth (see cosmetics). Restorative dentistry at our Hobart clinic focuses on repairing teeth damaged by decay or injury to restore function and health. Cosmetic enhancements, such as veneers, are separate procedures with distinct considerations and risks.
Crown and Bridge
Dental crowns can restore the function and strength of damaged teeth, with potential aesthetic benefits depending on individual circumstances. Dental bridges are one option to replace a missing tooth, with benefits and considerations that will be discussed during your consultation.
Dental Bonding
Bonding is permanently attaching dental materials to your teeth using dental adhesives and a high-intensity curing light.
Dentures
We look after both the construction and maintenance of full and partial removable dentures.
Inlays and Onlays
Inlays and onlays are a conservative alternative to dental crowns. They are often used instead of fillings to treat decay or similar damage to the teeth.
EXTRACTIONS & ORAL SURGERY
We look after many simple extractions in-house, under local anaesthesia as determined by the dentist and you. We may need to refer more complex cases to an oral surgeon.
